34 Weeks

Betsy has called us twice daily since the weekend to insist that we update the blog. She's right, we should. But her urgency to see pictures of an inflated woman is a but creepy. Really, she was threatening us more than she was asking us.

Here's a game to play: suggest baby names and items we should take to the hospital-- both will be useful so that we are prepared for any circumstance: whether it be a long water birth or if the child were born a gnome and need an appropriate name.

My Bum Leg

I'm slowly recovering from the knee surgery that I had on the 7th (12 days ago). I'm in a brace that keeps my leg straight most of he day, espcially when I'm walking (with a crutch or two, that is). I started Physical Therapy on Thursday and will be going roughly 3 times a week for the next couple of months. It still hurts a good bit but most of that has to do with body orientation. Well, that and the fact that they cut me open and drilled into my bones.

The photo is from Thursday the 10th, when I could finally take off the bandages and wash. It's hard to tell in the photo, but it looks like I'm smuggling grapefruit. Click the photo for a better view.

Sarah has been really really selfless this whole time. She's cooking, cleaning, walking & caring for the dogs, making me a baby, driving me to appointments, doing home repair, and all of it without help. She's hellbent on making everyone think she's the better part of this marriage.

Now I can bend it (which stretches the new ACL) to about 45 degrees "comfortably." It's really mostly a dull, lingering pain. And I lived with Wil for 4 years, so I know dull, but this kind of lingering is much less awkward...less leering and smirking.

They also cleaned off a torn portion of my lateral meniscus so that that can heal without causing disturbances to movement.

Thanks for all the gifts, visits, and prayers. Shawn brought Chick-Fil-A, Santi & Faith lent me movies, Jason has been cutting our grass, and Jon made sure we had ice cream. Dee sent me some stuff to read including an issue of Backpacker magazine...

I think she is taunting me.

With all the attention and help, it almost sound pretty sweet being laid up. Almost.

We hope that I'll heal well and quickly and that I have the personal discipline to stick to a strict PT regimen.

Evening at the beach

We (I especially) love going to the beach. This is one of my favorite parts of living in Charleston. The beach is literally 5 minutes down the road. I can even ride my bike there.

We went out to Folly to watch our friend Santi kite board and he is amazing. He has learned so fast and is now working on getting certified to teach others.

Also since Patrick was having knee surgery we wouldn't be able to both be out there together for a while. His surgery went really well and he's recovering nicely at home.

Patrick hasn't made an appearance in the pictures in a while so here's the soon to be father!

Slowly getting bigger.

I don't think Miles understands what is going on. We've tried explaining to him. The only part he seems happy about is there will be someone around to drop food for him. Fat boy loves his food.
